Claire in the 18th century immediately finds herself on the verge of being
ravaged by Black Jack Randall, a British officer and ancestor of her 20th
century husband. Claire is rescued by a band of cattle rustlers in kilts who
keep her prisoner as a suspected spy for the British. During a rest stop
near Urquhart castle on the banks of Loch Ness, Claire sees the Loch Ness
monster, which she recognizes as a species of dinosaur and concludes
that it, too, is probably a time traveler.
