One of our first stops is St. Michael's Churchyard in Dumfries. When
the old church was destroyed, the remains that were discovered in
older burial vaults were relocated to an unmarked area near the
original gravesite of Robert Burns. The plaque on the wall is a
memorial to members of "the McBriar family who have been
interred in these sacred grounds." McBriar and McBrair are early
variant spellings of McBrayer.
